This lists all the armor found in the game. The lower your armor class (AC), the better. The table shows the armor, , the AC, and how it affects your movement.

Classes are abbreviated as follows: Fighter (F), Cleric (C), Thief (T), Magic-User (M).

Body armors AC Max Move Wearers Notes Leather Armor -2 +4 0 F,C,T Ring Mail -3 +3 -3 F,C Scale Mail -4 +3 -6 F,C Chain Mail -5 +3 -3 F,C Splinted Mail -6 +3 -6 F,C Banded Mail -6 +3 -3 F,C Plate Mail -7 +3 -6 F,C Protective Cloak Var. +5 0 F,C,T,M Cannot be worn with another cloak or a Displacer Cloak; Protective Cloaks have no bonuses if used with armor of any kind. Further parts AC Max Move Wearers Notes Shield -1 +3 0 F,C Ring of Protection Var. +5 0 F,C,T,M Multiple Rings of Protection can be worn, but don't have a cumulative effect; whichever rings have the best bonus is the one that is used. These rings don't work with magic armor, but do work with non-magical armor. Bracers -10 n/a 0 F,C,T,M Multiple bracers can be worn, but don't have a cumulative effect; whichever bracers have the best bonus is the one that is used.

Notes:

A character carrying many objects, including lots of coins, can be further limited in movement to a minimum of 3 squares per turn. A shield subtracts 1 AC from any armor it is used with.
